I was up in Tucson on Sunday picking up some PA gear. on the way back I got a call from a friend saying that they were evacuating my home area. By the time I got to the road entrance to my community, the evacuation was in full force. The only way I got in was that I had a pet there. They told me to go get her and return immediately. Needless to say, I also hitched up the band trailer with all our gear in it, put the computer, important papers, photo albums and some cloths and medicines in the jeep and we hightailed it out of there. The file got to within 3/4 mile of the house. (the picture above taken while we were leaving is as close as it got.
We sat down the road a couple of miles and watched the fire waiting to get back into the house. Took a bunch of pictures, and this one is really neat time exposure which shows the wing light of one of the fire fighting tankers going across the picture. We were allowed back in at 9pm.
I took this picture from the front porch shortly after 9:30
The fire burned mostly on the mountain all Monday, but on Tuesday it came roaring down Ash Canyon and destroyed a bunch of homes.
Hope that today will be better. It was burning on the other side of the mountains when I got up at 4am this morning.
